I got this to help someone with math, but now I am deleting it from my device due to correct answers being counted wrong. Don't give this to children with shaky math skills.
Parents, don't give this to your kids as an exercise, unless you're quizzing them to see if they can find all the errors.
Puzzle #5 should be properly answered 50%, 75%, 60%, 20%. That answer isn't available. The "correct" answer according to the book/game is 50%, 25%, 60%, 20%. Unless 12/16 is 25% in some new math...the book is just wrong.
Puzzle #10 has 2 levels of error. The correct answer is 23, but the author worked out the arithmetic leading to the answer incorrectly (showing 12 x 11 = 121, which is WRONG), then summing up the 4 answers to the multiplication problems incorrectly (the answers are 11, 6, 3, 3 which sum to 23) and giving the overall answer to the problem as 27. The correct answer to the problem is 23. If the author used 12 (which is wrong, but what is shown in the answer table) to get the final sum, the answer should be 24. There's no way it should be 27, which is what the book says the correct answer is.
Puzzle #12 essentially asks you to calculate 1/2 of 31+27+15. That should be 36.5. All the answers are given in whole numbers, so the correct answer of 36.5 isn't an available response. Instead you have to go with 37. Since the problem doesn't say anything about "rounding" being acceptable, and since it is supposed to be quizzing your math skills, not having the correct answer of 36.5 doesn't seem at all appropriate.
That's as far as I've gone, but problem solution errors in 25% of the first 12 problems makes this very inappropriate as a way to test your child's math skills.
The "book" contains a total of 30 math problems from simple arithmetic to a couple with very basic algebra. If you are considering buying it, consider that the content is equivalent in length to no more than a couple of pages from a workbook.
The text is also rife with grammatical errors, if that matters to you.
I think it needs to be clearer what age group this book is for HOWEVER there are several inaccuracies my 13 year old, 9 year old, and I noticed.
Puzzle 5 inaccrately states that 12/16 is 25 % when it is 75%. There are other errors as well.
I do NOT recommend this book for ANY age.
Its a good thing I got this for free because it is so full of mathematical mistakes! You cannot use it to teach when the writers don't even know basic math or so it appears! Totally disappointed!
They ABSOLUTELY!!! have not gotten all the errors out. Two within the first 11 puzzles. Very frustrating, if you are trying to get your best score. Interesting easy puzzles, and would have earned at least a 4.
I think once the kinks are worked out, this would be good for kids, older kids. It's too advanced for little ones. I have found a few things in tinkering with this app. For a few questions I tapped to go to the next after a correct answer and was taken immediately to a page that said I had given an incorrect answer. I hadn't even seen the question to respond. Another time, I hadn't given answers to 5 in a row and it said I was correct, gave me 10 points and moved me on to the next question. And yes, agreeing with another commenter, one is flat wrong. 12x11 does not equal 121. 11x11 = 121. 12x11 = 132.
I had fun with this book. I am a math teacher and found it very engaging. There are a few mistakes ; however, many of these are because of the format on my kindle, as it did not show all the answers on the same page (turn the page!) If the author goes back and corrects the errors and the format were a bit better I think this is a fun way to practise your math.
